Modern Horseshoe Lake
The modern design of this new cottage required landscaping to match and blend with its natural surroundings.
Retaining walls along with stone steps created the perfect cobination to naturally blend the new landscape with existing topogrophy of the site.
Features
This unique building site, set high up on a hill, required hardscaping to make it functional and beautiful. The driveway was set higher than the cottage so a multi-tiered retaining wall was built with stone steps through the middle to welcome guest to the entrance. A large interlocking patio and pathway was installed to compliment the modern design of the building. Granite steps lead to the front door of the cottage. Around the side, another multi-tiered retaining wall with stone steps was built for easy access down the slope to the lake side. An interlocking patio was installed on the lake side to be cohesive with the entrance. This patio leads guest from the bottom door, as well as steps leading off the deck, to the fire pit area, bbq area or stairs that lead to the water. A peastone fire pit patio was built, large enough to accomodate at least 10 guest. A long set of winding steps lead guest through another multi-tiered retaining wall down the the dock and sauna area by the water. The paths through the forest create a tranquil environment to enjoy the natural surroundings comfortably. This new cottage and landscaping will be enjoyed by all for years to come!
